Yuga-Avataras

According to Hindu scriptures, time is divided into four ages, collectively known as "Chaturyuga". The details of these eras are as follows

Krita Yuga (Satya Yuga): This is the first and most virtuous age. In this era, Dharma (righteousness) prevails fully on all four pillars, meaning humanity lives with perfect truth, righteousness, and morality.

Treta Yuga: In this age, Dharma declines to three pillars. The incarnation of Lord Rama took place during this era.

Dvapara Yuga: In this age, Dharma declines further to two pillars. The Mahabharata war occurred during this era, and Lord Krishna took his incarnation.

Kali Yuga: This is the current age in which we live. Scriptures state that in this era, Dharma operates on only one pillar.

These four Yugas together constitute one "Mahayuga," and it is believed that they continue to revolve in a perpetual cycle.

According to Hindu scriptures, the forms that the Divine (Daivam) takes on Earth to protect Dharma and destroy evil forces are called "Avatars". The most significant among these are the "Dashavataras" (the ten incarnations).

Unlike Lord Vishnu, who incarnates to establish Dharma, Lord Shiva is considered Svayambhu (self-existent/unborn). However, in Puranic traditions, Shiva manifests in various forms to protect the universe, destroy evil, or teach his devotees.

  • In Hindu mythology, Dashavatara refers to the ten primary incarnations of Lord Vishnu. These avatars were taken at different times to restore cosmic order (Dharma) and protect the world from evil

  • In Hindu philosophy, the Devi (Goddess) is the manifestation of Shakti (Cosmic Energy). She takes various forms to maintain cosmic balance, protect devotees, and annihilate evil forces.

  • During Devi Navaratri, the Goddess is worshipped in nine different forms. These nine forms are called 'Navadurga'.

  • These vidyas serve as guidelines for spiritual seekers to awaken their inner energy in a systematic way.

  • The eight individuals who live on this earth for eternity are called the "Ashta Chiranjeevis". It is believed that they will remain alive until the end of the Yuga. Their names and details are as follows:
