Since Shiva was in deep meditation after Sati's departure, the gods sent Manmatha (God of Love) to awaken him. When Shiva opened his Third Eye, six intense sparks of fire emerged. These sparks were so powerful that Agni (Fire God) carried them to the River Ganga, who then placed them in the Sharavana Lake. There, the sparks transformed into six infants. When Goddess Parvati embraced them, they merged into one child with six faces, known as Shanmukha.

Biography:
Divine Birth and the Sharavana Lake: Lord Subramanya was manifested to eliminate the demon Tarakasura. Six powerful sparks emerged from Lord Shiva’s third eye (the eye of wisdom). These sparks were carried by Agni and Vayu to the holy River Ganga and eventually placed in the 'Sharavana' lake. There, the sparks transformed into six infants, who were nurtured by the six Krittika deities, earning him the name 'Kartikeya.' When Goddess Parvati embraced them, they merged into one divine child with six faces, known as 'Shanmukha.'
The Embodiment of Wisdom and Shiva's Guru: Subramanya is not just a warrior but the supreme lord of wisdom. As a young child, he questioned Lord Brahma about the meaning of the Pranava Mantra (OM). When Brahma couldn't explain it, Subramanya imprisoned him. Later, he enlightened his own father, Lord Shiva, on the profound meaning of OM, earning the titles 'Swaminatha' and 'Shiva Guru.' This symbolizes that divine wisdom transcends even the greatest hierarchies.
The War Against Evil and Deva Senapati: To defeat Tarakasura, Goddess Parvati bestowed upon him the 'Vel' (Divine Spear), a weapon of pure energy and consciousness. As the Commander-in-Chief (Deva Senapati) of the celestial army, Subramanya led a fierce battle against the demons. He eventually annihilated Tarakasura and Surapadma. Post-victory, instead of destroying the ego-driven Surapadma, he transformed him into a peacock to serve as his vehicle and a rooster to adorn his flag.
The Six Abodes and Eternal Presence: Following his victory, the Lord established himself in various sacred spots, most notably the 'Arupadai Veedu' (Six Abodes) in Tamil Nadu. He married Devasena, the daughter of Indra, and Valli, a tribal princess, representing the union of celestial and earthly devotion. Known for his eternal youth and beauty (Muruga), he continues to guide devotees from the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge, teaching the ultimate truth of the self.
